My Honda Rebel 250 has 2900 miles on it. When cold or when the engine if off it shifts smoothly, but when fully warmed up it gets harder to shift and at idle it's almost impossible to shift. Seems that I've seen something similar on this forum. I bought it with 2300 miles and haven't done anything to it. Any idea what might be causing this?

Clutch adjustment or maybe it just needs an oil change.

Thanks. I'll try an oil change. I have the cable correctly adjusted. Just hope I don't need to go into the clutch. With only 2900 miles on it I would not expect any internal issues.

I was going to say the same thing.... It could be the oil. When the oil gets old, bikes tend to not shift as well. I just changed my oil today. My rule of thumb is to change my oil every year. This seems to work well.

You should be changing it based on mileage, every 2500 miles. And if the bike gets stored in the off-season, it should never be put away with old oil in it.
