Welcome aboard! These bikes run great with a little maintenance and care. Mine has taken care of me for over 30 years and going strong. Glad to see another XJ rider in the bay area.

LETS GO GI-ANTS!!! (clap clap clap clap clap). Hey thanks guys! The bike is stock right now. I recently changes the valve cover gasket as it looked a little worse for wear. I need to clean out the carbs and adjust the valves, but I am a bit overwhelmed with the process. I think I might just go for it and get my hands dirty. I've been looking all around here and on the Youtubes and think Im gonna try to clean those bad boys myself. The estimate I got at the shop was like $600 which is over half the price of the bike! Plus, I'd love to learn how to do it myself. If you guys have any suggestions or caveats, or links to some vids on how to clean the carbs/adjust the valves, please shoot em my way.

Also, I've been having some trouble getting the bike to start. It's fickle. And it seems to be losing power going uphill, which is a problem in SF! LOL. I checked the intake boots and seems like they're holding up well. They look cracked and pretty old. Any suggestions? Let me know. Thanks again for the support.

Welcome from NZ Rossco; put your bike (year model etc) in your signature so when you ask questions the guys know what you have.
