Hello. I am new to riding and to owning an XJ. So far I love riding, love my XJ. It is a 1981 XJ650 Midnight Maxim and from what I learning, kinda rare. I had a few Carb problems when i first got it, a bowl gasket leak, a fuel leak, and then the carbs had to be rebuilt due to P.O. not taking proper storage precautions. But now that those problems are fixed, and my wallet is 200 bucks lighter, I love it. Here are two of my favorite pictures. Let me know what you guys think of it.

Looks good! I really like the look of the midnight's! Don't really want to convert mine to midnight status, but I definitely would like to de-chromify a large portion of it!

Unfortunately, the paint on the tank is cracked really really bad. I slapped a coat of wax on it to keep it from getting worse. I have been meaning to take a close up picture of the tank. I am having a great time riding and learning how to avoid the cages. Luckily I am 5 min from the Blue Ridge Parkway, so I am learning curves and how to maneuver without a lot of cars around.

    Hi welcome to XJBikes.

    The Midnights look really nice!
I had one of these 15 years ago, I paid $3,200 more than you! Still see the new owner riding round here, still running sweet, wish I still had her.
