Hi all. I have been reading around the forms for a while and learning as much as possible before tackling projects. I have lucked into a great bike in great mechanical condition and decent cosmetic condition.

Put some fresh gas with half a can of sea foam, changed the oil and final drive fluid. Changed the plugs and air filter. Most important, put some new tires on as the old ones have were long overdue.

I had started a list of items to replace starting with rebuilding the master cylinder and putting new lines but the bike is in great shape so there is no rush. I have already been by the local motorcycle shop and they didn't want to touch anything (never known a mechanic that couldn't find something that needed to be fixed). As I understand it, the original owner was a NASCAR mechanic, the next was a guy who didn't do much and the most recent PO changed the fluids every year. Couple of minor leaks but I dab them dry after every ride with a paper towel just to keep an eye on things and I have a new Haynes manual, which in some ways gives the pictures for some great write-ups on here.

I have started commuting and she runs strong even with a 195" guy on top.

    Have a great day.

    Check your valve clearances.

    What he said!

And get new plugs and do a couple plug chops to see whats going on at hte different RPM ranges.

the other side of that advice is....Ignorance is bliss.

Not when it comes to the valves, though. Do those even if you decide to leave everything else alone.

And congratulations, I love my seca...
