This is my very first post to this site.
I enjoy reading about everyone's challenges and success's.
Sorry, very new to working on bikes. Really enjoying it tho. Somewhat therapeutic.
Quick question in regards to cleaning the carbs. I had them apart, by no means completely apart, just wading in slowly. During the cleaning, i ended up getting carb cleaner inside where the diaphrams are and got it all over them. Don't ask.
My question is, is it ok to get carb cleaner on the diaphram? I washed them off as soon as I could and dryed them. Reassembled and it ran fine.
I will be getting back into these properly when I get back from holidays and get them zestfully clean.
Looking forward to learning how to set floats, both dry and wet, and getting this bike back on the road.
I know there is a lot of work to do, prior to this, but there is so much help here on this site.
    Thanks.

You should be fine! I have done that also and had no problems. Welcome to this site. It is a great place to learn anything there is to know about xj bikes. Don't hesitate to ask any questions pertaining to your bike. There are ALOT of people on this site that do not mind helping anyone who wants to learn and they are great people who know alot more than dealerships know about these bikes. I have had several questions myself about a few things and have had nothing but great results with the people on this site. I would suggest looking through the tutorials and how-to's. They are done outstanding and if you have a question about anything don't hesitate to ask.
