trying to put the xj900 diversion 92-98 front rim on my 81 yamaha maxim (turbo).
As we have seen, the rear goes in without issue. This allows a wider rear rim and a rear disc brake.

With the front there are a few issues:

    1. diversion axle is bigger diameter than the maxim, so we need new bearings to use the stock maxim axle.

    2. width - the width of the rim is too wide to fit in between the forks with the speedometer drive gear installed. it is probably about 5mm too wide.
    - Right now i have the stock 81 maxim speedometer drive gear. Are they all the same width among yamaha bikes?
The 700x one looks a little thinner, but i cant be sure?

does anyone know. Other option would be to convert to electronic sender but then i need new gauges. Hoping i can take something off another bike and make it work. Any help appreciated.

Looks like I will need to use an electronic sender here. The speedo drive wont fit. I even tried to machine it down but it wont work. Updates to follow.

Likely better to do a full fork swap. Early YZF600 forks fit with a bearing swap and a bit of grinding on the triple tree for clearance. Good part is they use the wheel you're looking for with a mechanical sender.
