    Hello All

The front brake on my 1981 XJ650 Maxim is sticking. I have replaced the master cylinder, re-built the caliper and added stainless brake lines and replaced the pads.

I seems that the brake binds intermittently making it difficult to move the front wheel when raised off the ground. If I fiddle with the caliper pivot bolt it seems to release, but repeats when the lever is pulled.

Any ideas? How much brake drag is normal on these bikes?

Take the caliper off again make sure the pivot bolt and shaft And clean. Make sure not to overtigten the pivot nut and bolt, I put a little puberty on the pivot points when I reassymbled mine ( synthetic brake grease)

Thanks for the reply. I pulled the caliper cleaned and re-greased the pivot bolt and washers and reassembled. Seems to have helped. Will keep an eye on it.

    I appreciate the help
