I need to know the torque specs on the top end of my motor. Does anyone know the setting for those 10mm bolts that hold the cams in place? Other head bolt info welcomed as well. Thanks.

Hope these are not too big if you don't have hi-speed, but figure you would be able to see them better at this size.
As you can see these are scans taken right out of the factory service manual.

    Hey Forgiven
I've been through the manual a couple of times and I can't find any info in there regarding the ring orientation.
The only thing I can think of and not 100% positive is that the gaps on the rings should be 90 degrees from each other when on the piston.
For instance, one ring has the gap at 12 o'clock, then the next ring gap should be at either 3 or 9 o'clock. Neither gap should be in line with intake or exhaust opening.
The only *NOTE* in the manual refers to the correct position of the piston when putting it back together. There should be a couple of letters "EX", make sure they are facing towards the front of the engine.
Here's a pic: (sorry the pic is so big, but I tried a smaller image and it was hard to read)

Hope this helps and if someone else knows more about the end gap position, then feel free to jump in.

Ok, for any who may be following this thread I have started a new one telling of the process I went through with main emphasis on setting the valves. Thanks again Maxim-x for your very helpful information.

Well the rings are almost broken in, the bike runs quite well. Some minor carb. issues upon warming up. Other than that I am so glad I decided to revive my bike. Now if only summer would really arrive here.....I threw together a short video of some of the rebuild process. And how the bike looks today.

Here I am back 2 years later.....did the whole procedure again, this time redid the head completely, valves ground, new springs, etc. This time it will not fire. I do have spark, fuel, compression. I can only think of one thing that I may have gotten wrong. When cleaning the carbon from the pistons I may have gotten the #1 cyl. off by one rotation....that could make the sparkplug fire on the exhaust stroke on all cylinders. So I have tried switching the 2 input leads to the coils, that did not work. I put them back then tried swaping spark plug leads....I tried switching from 1-2-3-4 to 2-1-4-3...no luck with that either. Any of you have suggestions on how to get the ignition timing to work without taking the whole thing apart and setting the cams again? It seems to me that I should be able to swap leads and get it to run. Do any of you know the firing order on the Maxim X? I was thinking it may be 1&3, 2&4 at the same time, but now I am unsure...Thanks to any who know this stuff.
