The good news is my brother just bought a 82 Maxim 650 yesterday and it is in my garage! (And I get to ride it occasionally while mine is in pieces.) Only 9,000 miles too.

The bad news is that I just found out that the valve pads that I need will be up to 2 MONTHS backorder (at least one month)! So my Maxim X will be a garage ornament for a long time to come. BUMMER!

My brother posted a wanted ad on craigslist for a cheap running bike, and someone answered it. It just happened to be a Maxim, coincidence? Pretty cool.

I did, but when i pulled them out, they were not wearing properly... I didn't get a mirror finish when I ground them, so they were only making contact with the lifters on a small surface.
