any storage on 81 xj650

Is their any place that i am not seeing to store stuff on the actually bike. Is their any attach ment i could buy. How do you guys store stuff thanks

 

There is a small amount of room under the seat (a pair of gloves will fit there), otherwise you will be needing to get a rack and luggage, but racks can be hard to find. Soft-sided luggage can be had that will strap to the seat. A magnetic tank bag is also an option, and works very well for commuting.
What will you be needing the luggage for?

 

on a regular basis I just use a decent backpack. ive been looking at getting a tank bag for my seca but haven't followed through with a purchase yet.

just remember that the more weight you ad to the bike and where that weight is can affect the balance and handling characteristics

 

I use a small magnetic tank bag with great regularity.

 

A nylon duffel bag and 2 bungees will fit under the seat when not needed.

 

Thanks guys. When you said you could fit a pair of gloves under the seat do you sit them on the rear fender

 

Pretty much. I don't actually carry my gloves there though. It's not very handy.

I use leather saddle bags and a magnetic tank bag. The tank bag is great if you just need to carry a few small things. Also common is the metal rack that extends out above the rear fender. I salvaged mine for $25 from a bike scrapyard. Check my gallery, theres a photo of my '80 650 max with all my storage attached to it, doesn't looks fancy but does the job.
