    How are we all doing new member new bike just thought Id see what the xj world has to offer It's not done yet has 4 in Z bars that I sent off to be chromed Will get them back some day going to rap the exhaust, and put on white walls

    What mechanical work have you done? I see what appear to be very old brake lines. I'll assume that you know where your utilities are :wink:

    My utilities Are lost I'm still trying to locate them
    I bought the Bike from A one owner Always garaged with 8000 miles on it
    all the lines will be replaced once I get my bars back motor ran like a dream so I didn't have to break it down so Oil change and she was good carbs are cleaned and jetted with pods and rewired with updated fuse box

    I'd still check the valve clearances. All that has to come off is the fuel tank and the valve cover. I have yet to see a used motorcycle that has had the valves adjusted when they were supposed to be.

    With only 8K miles they've probably been ignored. Especially by those considering a valve adjustment to be a "major teardown."

    Nice find!
    You might think about finding a front fender for it as well. There is an important fork brace in the underside of it.

    Thanks for the info and I have the front fender I took it off didn't look right but maybe I should put it back on after I paint it
    and Ill check the valves and adjust them didn't even think of it was so busy doing the mods on the look missed the easy stuff

    LOL painted the bike before I bought the bike they are close to the same the cycle is 70 Chevy yellow and bike is canary yellow but side by side you can't tell but The Bike was bought After I painted the motorcycle tank and fender

    also don't let the Valve Clearance check scare you
    it is not that difficult to do
    and all you need is some basic tools and feeler gauges
    looks nice otherwise
    +1 on the front fender.. ebay has them cheap

    enjoy and be safe
