    Hi all,

I may take some flack for asking a fashion question, but I'm seriously wondering what jeans people like for riding.

I ask because I haven't bought a pair in years and I find my pants always bunching up and getting uncomfortable when riding.

Not happy and not keen to throw away a bunch of money on new jeans that fit the same.

What are you guys happily wearing?

Fair question, I'm having similar issues myself. Any thoughts or experience in this department would be greatly appreciated. I'm considering some Icon pants right now (bought the boots last week).

I have 30 or so pairs of jeans, all Levis, they all fit different even at the same size.

Number 1 buzz cut, goatie, gold watch.
Summer, Levis, plain black T shirt, black leather "square toe" shoes.
Winter, Levis, plain black T shirt, black leather "square toe" shoes, black hip length jacket.

Draggin' Jeans - they're made for riding.

They are made of heavy weight denim with a lining of Kevlar in the seat, hips and knees. They are also the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn. They cost more than Levi's, but worth every penny for the protection they provide.

I haven't tried Diamond Gusset Defender jeans, but I've heard good things about them.

Levi's, never used to wear any other jeans. Never see them here in Spain but doubt I could afford them in the UK, last pair I bought cost £45.00 and that had to be 10 years ago.

Diamond gusset? Sounds like the big old bloomers my granny wore, legs down to the knee and elastic that must have stopped her blood flowing to her feet.

I buy my riding jeans 2 sizes longer than usual. This way they:
    A) Cover my boot laces (nothing to snag)
    B) Dont ride up too high when seated on the bike
If I cuff 'em just right they also dont touch the ground when I'm off the bike.
I don't wear the Joe Rocket, Draggin, Icon, etc jeans (seem too expensive for the limited amount of "protection" offered), opting instead for a good (comfortable AND flexible) set of Six-Six-One knee/shin guards under my Levis on long rides.
For colder weather, I've found that nothing beats the lined/insulated jeans from places like Gander Mountain, Cabelas, etc. They keep you warm, and the heavier denim and extra layer offer a slight bit more protection (probably as much as the Icon, Rocket, etc jeans).

I have a pair of Joe Rocket Steel jeans. I like them a lot and got them for cheap on Ebay. Like $55. You'd spend that on a good pair of Levis without the padding.

The Joe Rocket jeans and even riding pants are a great option, and much better than regular jeans. And not much more expensive.

I don't have them, but know two people with the Ballistic pants (actually over-pants). They swear by them - easy on, easy off, waterproof, and comfy.

In the summer, I just wear some of my favorite half worn out to shabby jeans. I have different brands but on the bike it has to be the longer sized straight leg jeans for sure. I like to look like a rag basically but they have to be clean and good fit. The winter time is the only time that I'm safer and at least wear a jacket and thicker pants...me bad! I actually prefer white tee shirts to black...nothing beats hole ridden jeans with a white tee shirt to be comfortable on the bike.

I can voach for the draggin jeans. A buddy of mine got hit about a year or two ago and was wearing those. They litteraly saved his @ss. I saw the pants afterwards and the kevlar was almost completly worn away (he slid 160 feet on asphalt). But yeay, his gear saved his life, thats why I always were ATLEAST full face helmet, gloves, and jacket. Boots and log pants probable 95% of the time.

If you want to see what would have happened if he was not wearing the Gear, look here: Pretty girl falls off back of bike for the story of what she went through. Not too graphic but does have pictures of road rash.

I couldnt even image what would have happened if he hadnt been wearing his pants and helmet. He would probable be dead.

That was an eye-opener. I never ride without helmet, jacket and gloves but now I might have to consider leather pants or Draggin' Jeans as well.

I've got two pair of Draggins and have never put them to the test. They are comfortable and durable. Bit expensive but well worth it.

Draggins are very popular over here and have seen a few pair put to the test. They stand up very well.

Draggin' Jeans all the way. That extra layer of Kevlar is worth it.
