stolen

someone stole my motorcycle last night in portland between the hours of 11pm and 4:30 am. it was parked in front of my car between of a small storage unit on the side of my house. the theif had to have picked it up or broke the handlebar lock.

heres the last picture of her. taken 7 days ago.

That is sad to hear. These bikes are becoming more valuable and it seems that I have been hearing more of this kind of thing. They must have come prepared if they were able to get it with the steering locked. I will put a posting of this thread on the other motorcycle forum i frequent; KZRider. Maybe others can do the same on other sites and we can get the word out. Maybe you can give some unique attribute on the bike which people can look out for.

 

Hope you get her back before she is turned into an unrecognizable bopper.

 

I hope they find it fast and that it doesn't come back in the condition mine did. I only got back the frame and motor. Steering locks will only deter a thief who is unprepared. When I repossessed bikes, they didn't even slow me down.

the only unique attribute was that it was completely stock. didn't change a thing. all original stuff other than the fork gaiters i put on it.

Its such a rare and distinctive bike, it should really stand out from the crowd. I feel bad for you and pray to get her returned to you unmolested. Even in Ireland where I live, this kind of thing is rampant and especially vulnerable are bikes in underground Car parks where these scumbags can do their evil work largely unnoticed. :evil:

 

Heart breaking and a great looking ride. Not many like it and distinctive. If it heads south I'll be on the lookout.

Sure hope it doesn't get parted.

I wonder if thieves ever realize what that feels like, to have something ever stolen from them.

Good luck bro, but anyone who knows what the parts cost would probably part it out. I hope if anything you get some insurance money.

I imagine you are feeling alot of emotions right now - that truly is a beautiful bike that you have put alot of love into.

I sincerely hope for the best outcome.

 

True, an stock unmolested bike from that era is scarce and unique. The millage will help in identifying it as well. A beautiful bike like that doesn't go unnoticed. Keep the faith and something will come up.

 

See if you can get the word out to all the motorcycle shops in your area, and post this on your local Craigslist.

 

Take the picture and the ID number around to all the motorcycle shops and ask them to keep a watch out. Talk with the parts guys and ask them to watch for anybody ordering parts for a bike like yours. Spend a bit of time on the weekends driving around to places Bikers congregate. Look around for the bike and see if you can talk to a few people and show them the pics of your bike and ask the business owners if you can post a picture somewhere with contact numbers. Have somebody in a different town put an ad in Craigslist under "wanted" and list Hondas, Yamahas and Suzukis from the early 80's. DO NOT GO FACE TO FACE WITH ANYBODY YOU MIGHT THINK HAS YOUR BIKE, CALL THE POLICE!
Watch for part sales on Ebay, craigslist.

This is really your best bet, after of course reporting it stolen to the police and your insurance.
Is the ZKMC big in Portland? I know for friends on the west coast that there are huge MC enthusiast forums, Bay Area Riders Forum comes immediately to mind. Put the word on the Line.

 

Not good. Seems like someone(s) may have been watching you. Men are creatures of habit more so than women which make us easy targets. Then there's the old "bragging" thing we get baited into at times we probably shouldn't (when not so friendly eyes and ears are unknowingly present). I hope you get your bike back.

the insurance waits 20 days before even thinking about giving me any money.

i wont be getting any money near to the amount that bike is worth to me, but. lets just hope i get it back before then.
