I am looking for a NOS Speedo from an XJ750X Maxim X. Looking for one with KM on it as well. I know it's unobtanium but everything else is NOS so I need one to match. If you have one or know of one please let me know. I'm not 100% but I think Virago 750 and 1100's will also fit.

The xv700 and the xv750 will FIT, but it will be the WRONG COLOR. You need the xv1000 or the xv1100. Those two are the white face, the xv700 and the xv750 faces are black.

Also, be careful- the tachs will FIT, but the redline will not match the XJ. The virago redline is much lower.

The cluster is different, too, because the X had the temp gauge in the middle. The cluster face is the same.

The speedo for an airhead xj700/xj750 will match up, so will the tach, as they are the same thing. The cluster face is the same.

the cluster cover and the cluster internal housing, and the mount for the the X are different, as they all have the extra part in the middle to provide for the temp gauge.

The Virago clusters are physically all the same as the airhead xj700/750....its just the face colors that are different on the smaller ones, and of course, the redline being different than the xj redline.

    hope that helps a bit....

Yeah I already have the main body, chrome covers for both speedo and tach and the water temp gauge, Got the NOS tach already. All I'm missing is the speedo unit and I'll have a complete set of gauges. I'd get mine rebuilt but I can't seem to find anywhere to send it.

I think that the airhead XJ700 tacho's used a lower scale (9.5K redline on an 11K scale) vs. the water-head XJ700 models (10K redline on a 12K scale).

Can anyone confirm if a 1991 XV1100 Speedo will work or not? Also maybe a vmax 1200? Might still be able to get them retail.

I found you an NOS source for the 1985 XJ700X speedo; they have two on hand.

But they want $587.55 for it.

I confirmed the virago one several posts back. Yes, the earlier Vmax one will be the same thing, too, but not sure if the later ones were still the same. If you go with a Vmax one, I believe the rear shell is different.

Was just confirming the year had the same gauge face as it's quite a lot newer.

I'd pay $200 for one but $587.55 is out of my budget.

If you're just looking for a speedometer, the '86 to '90 Radian models use the same one as the Maxim X model. It is the correct size, color, and has the identical sweep 0 - 140 MPH. That will help open up some search options for you.
