Hopefully the title says it all but I am having problems with my gears...... Can select 1st but can not then get it into neutral . Can go to second and beyond but still unable to find neutral on the way down. Have to start engine with clutch held in...... Not sure if it's a clutch problem or oil to be honest.
Anyone had any experience of this? How did you resolve it?

Bike - XJ900F trike conversion basically joined to a reliant rear axle!!

    Regards

Hi Triker, here is a link from this site which discusses the proper oil to use.

Having said that, it is more likely that your problem is related to the clutch not being adjusted properly. First try to adjust your clutch in accordance to the factory service manual. More than likely that will resolve your issue.

The bike only starting with the clutch in might be the safety circuit

Are you relying on the neutral light to find neutral, or are you trying to find it and checking by rolling the bike?

I want to isolate the problem to being either a shifting issue, or a problem with the neutral switch.

I have no warning lights as I'm not employing the original instrument cluster.

I have using the good old faithful rocking my trike forward and backwards to feel whether it's still in gear.
