    Hi
    I have an 81 xj650 and I am wondering if a seat from a 82 xj650 will fit?

My seat is in great shape but it pushes me too far forward. I either need to mod it or buy a new seat. I found on on ebay that looks a little deeper but it is for an 82.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would also purchase an aftermarket if someone has good suggestions.

    thanks
    steve

RickCoMatic had the same problem with his seat, so he peeled back the cover and went after the foam with a carving knife. The seat looks *great* now.

You might want to contact him to get more details, but here's the thread where he's got pics of it after surgery.

Any seat from an 85 or 86 Maxim or Maxim-X, according to XRef.

Thats the only thing about my 700 S I don't like as well. I slide forward in the seat on the highway. I can push myself back with the highway bars but I would prefer a different seat of some kind that would prevent that.

There is a guy here who modified his whole bike I cant rember who it was but it turned out beautifully..

He also has a 700 and hesays in his post that he took a heat gun to the plastick part of the seat and molded it to fit...

it turned out very well and I wanted to do it also, but I just cant get myself to cut/change anything on my bike to take it from its original form....

Unless I have a spare to do it with...
This is not the thread but its the same problem you say your having, hope this helps...Ridz
