IIRC the RD is a very fast wee beasty. I haven't been near a running one in a couple of decades though...sadly.

My first brand new bike was a 1981 RD350LC, so I know all about them. We were lucky to have them, up here in Canada. Here's a couple of photos of me and my RD350LC, back in the day...

But ironically, while on our coastal ride yesterday, we came to a stretch of road which was completely free of traffic, that has about thirty beautiful switchbacks through about three or four miles. So I figured this was the perfect time to get my knee down on the Seca and see if Brian would answer the challenge on his knew-to-him RD350LC. As I wicked it up, I saw Brian, in my mirrors, pull out around Lorenzo's CB550F and give chase. I'm a faster rider than Brian, but fully expected to be caught by the RD, if not matched. But after three turns it was over. I waited by the roadside, at the end of the long section of switchbacks, for the lads to catch up, but they never did. I went back to find them by the side of the road. Brian's RD had oil-fowled the right side plug just as he started to wick it up to give chase. Although I was a staunch two-stroke guy, back in the day, the four-stroke advantage paid off handsomely, all these years later, when the tables were turned.
