putting turbo on 81 xj650

    I have an 81 xj 650 and i know they made a 82 xj650 with a turbo.
    I found on ebay the 82 turbo carbs and the manifolds. I was wondering will the carbs work for mine 81 and will the manifold bolt up. My brother is a proffesional fabrication so we can do some modding. Do you think this will work

    In all honesty you'd be better off doing a clean-sheet system using a modern turbo. There are internal differences between the turbo and non-turbo engines that preclude just bolting the factory system onto a non-turbo bike. They factory turbo system really wasn't all the good anyway. It added weight and complexity without enough extra go.

    81 Maxim Turbo Using 83 seca Turbo Driveline. Almost a bolt in. 16psi and a real hoot to ride.
