So I am about to undertake an attempt at moving my forward controls back. To give it more of a stripped down sport bike feel. I bought the rear set for an R1 and I will have to figure out the linkage but doesn't seem difficult. Has anyone tried this?

What are you planning to do with your forward controls? Are they TC Bros?

They are the oem forward controls for the R1. Paid 60 for the set on ebay. I am hoping I can mount them just before the Rear pegs. I'm going to remove the bracket that holds the rear pegs and muffler. Then hopefully mount the R1 rear set in its place. Not 100% sure yet though waiting on them to come in so I can really see.

Are you on a Maxim (cruiser) or Seca (sport/standard)? Rear sets on a cruiser would suck, but on a Seca they might be workable.

It used to be a maxim cruiser but that was many modifications ago. It's more of the seca now if anything.
