I am looking to replace or modify the rear light cowl that holds the brake light on an 81 XJ750. Has anyone done this? Or what kind of ideas do you have?

What end look are you trying to achieve with the 750 Seca - street tracker, bobber, brat, etc.?

    - I'm not a huge fain of the Tail-light either.
I have seen a few pictures online with the entire rear fender removed and a light mounted to the rear of the seat.

I'd LOVE to see what others have done.
I like the look of the bike overall but that tail light... seems like an afterthought...

My tablet is being all kinds of quirky right now, but I fabricated a new rear light cowl out of aluminum to look more like the newer Honda Shadows... one piece that just goes one direction. If you check out my build page, you'll see what I mean.

I have photo-edited a couple options for my own 750 Seca - shortening the seat pan and relocating the tail section further forward, creating a seat cowl to cover the pillion part of the seat, etc. I actually like the rear light cowl area and if you remove it you are also destined to changing the seat because of the mating between the two; the thing that I'm not crazy about are the side panels and gas tank bottom - I really do not like the curved bottom line, nor the odd junction between the tank and side panel nor the skinny side panel appearance. I have seen where the rear fender was trimmed off so that it was no longer protruding from the tail (and the license hanger moved to the tail); the entire tail/fender/seat removed and replaced by more "Scrambler"-looking units. Also - the 750 Maxim tank/seat/bodywork should be an easy direct fit.

So, again, it would be best to know what look you are trying to achieve with your Seca and how much work you are willing to take on before suggestions are made.

Go to "Modifications", look for the discussion thread created (authored) by PilotSmack.

    - Ok... I found it... THANKS!

Where did you get that seat? I like it a LOT better than the stock seat...
