Looks like the bolts on the rear came loose! I thought I heard a weird noise.
Check out the damage it did to the final drive!
I'm lucky though. I had it going in under an hour with the hub from my spare parts bike.
I have attached the pictures of the old and new hubs to see the difference.

Now that's not something you see everyday! Glad you were prepared with a spare.

I know! There was grease on the bolts when I inspected them. I suspect the grease was left on the bolt hole threads from the powder coating guys. I have seen people do that before when powder coating. It will not stick to grease. I cleaned it right up and used blue loctite to be safe. Loctite is your friend!

I would just clean up the damaged one and replace the outer seal. The bolts just milled the case a little. Not enough to worry over. It looks like they did as good a job as a hobbyist milling machine would have. Less unsprung weight is good :)

HA, I think you are right. I'm going to take out the old seal and see if it's still good. I suspect you are right that it is still good. I'll let you know if it is in a couple days.

I am not sure what the difference is in the before & after pics.....except ..are those metal shavings in the bottom pic ??? and from where....all the bolts and nuts in both pics look intact.....

Please point out the difference.......thank you

Compare the ribbing on the face of the cases, near their respective output shafts.

The bolts from the wheel came loose and rubbed up against the final drive just around the output. You should be able to see the shiny metal in the pix of the old hub. If you look close enough, you will be able to see the seal was also rubbed out.
