After 32 years the trusty sidestand on my Seca finally started showing it's age. I figured now was as good as any time to rehab it. Keep in mind the following should not be attempted without proper training, manuals and tools.

This is the sidestand still on the bike.

This is how it looks disassembled and off the bike. I know, it's rather disturbing to see it this way. 8O

    During some rust removal treatment.

This is unrelated, just my smoker making my dinner.

I gave the bolt head a polishing.

A coat of primer in my state of the art painting facility.

And a nice coat of black, again in my state of the art painting facility.

Here are all the pieces, now better than new.

And lastly, back on the bike. I must say, this really improved both the acceleration and handling. I would recommend this as everyone's next project. Hope you enjoyed.

You obviously labored very hard, so you deserve it/them. And even if you didn't........

Very nice color palette on the margi's.

Is that the dog's dinner next to the smoker?

Of course they do, just not wood chips or our smoked chicken.

I should add on a more serious note that sidestand bolts on both the Seca and Maxim were loose. It might not be a bad idea to check them.

    .

Not even a little doggie margarita.....you know, to take the edge off?

And yes, the sidestand bolts generally do work loose over time, good tip.

Hey Len, were the side stands originally gloss or matte? As well as the center stand?

    Nice job Brad!

all that work is wasted if you didn't set your valves first

Would I get the same improvement in acceleration and handling on my Maxim if I did this rebuild? Does it make a difference if I don't have a smoker or margarita glass??

Personally, I would go with a high gloss. Less wind resistance.
And valves are those thingies that keep the air in the tires.
Len, you have way too much time on your hands. People, start buying stuff and keep him busy.
