    Where to start?

I messaged Chacal for a quote and got a cut and paste of the entire Brakes catalog.

As stated in another thread I have ignored my breaks long enough. When I got the bike the first thing I did do was pop in new pads. When I did this the thing didn't look terrible and wasn't hemorrhaging fluid at all. But I do need to referb the calipers replace the hoses and referb the MC. Basically all the rubber bits yes?

I am reaching out to someone here who has done this, that I can message as I go through the steps of getting these brakes back to spec.

like for the MC i was thinking about getting a whole new one Brake Lever and getting standard brake lines and taking aprt the calipers and replace anything that looks worn or broken.

I'll stop rambling now...what say the community?

PS, just wanted to add that I AM mechanically inclined. I'm just clueless on what parts to buy starting out due to limited budget, I need to get what I need the first time.

I was working on a writeup for a complete overhaul, but got stalled. I did do one for the brake lines, though:

    Stainless brake lines

If you're thinking of doing the sight glass on the master cylinder, there's one for that, too:

    Choosing a sight glass

Here's the shopping list off the top of my head:

    Master Cylinder kit
Sight glass for said master cylinder
Black RTV for sealing the sight glass
Brake Lines (I'm a fan of stainless)
    Banjo bolts
    Appropriate number of crush washers
    Pads
Fluid and dust seals for Caliper pistons
Bleed screws, if they're in need
    Fresh brake fluid
A can of brake cleaner for flushing the passages in the calipers and distribution joint
Optional: vacuum bleeder, honing tool for master cylinder bore

I'm sure there's more. Might want to consider checking the rotor(s) while you're at it.

A nice shiny set of stainless pistons always go down well, if your old ones are corroded
I had to replace my anti-rattle springs too, the old ones were rusted paper-thin, also the rubber belows were torn on mine, they were a devil to find replacements, luckily some of the XS bikes had the same calipers, it all depends what you find when you start delving in there

PS. Stainless lines are highly recommended, they make a big difference
