Some of you may know I'm planning a Radian engine transplant into the 550..

Easy -huh ? Well not without obstacles I discover but hey all fun.

One problem I have had is water damaged bores -seems that in rainy England everyone wants to store their spare enines outside :? Result = seizures and pitted bores.

So I've been trying to figure a way to source OS pistons for teh 58.5 dia bore of the 600 engine, say 59mm or even 60mm but no dice. At least not for less than about 500 US..

Then I had a moment of inspiration. Why not take a shagged 550 barrel set and bore them (from 57mm) to match my 600 pistons.

Any reason why this would not work ?

    Cheers

Thanks - that's good to hear.

So that would up a regular 550 (528cc) to 556cc approx given the shorter stroke ?

Thanks. The radian is a 600 so already have the head and stuff.

Out of interest though what did you do for a rev counter since the 600 heads have no drive ?

    Cheers

I didn't use a 600 head on that motor just the pistons

I was going to find an electronic one
