So I have an 81 xj750 seca. The OEM gauges on my bike were shot so I had to go with some after market gauges. After wiring them up, I turned on the power and they power right up and do the sweep (they are digital gauges so it just runs trough the numbers) however, as soon as it is done with the sweep it looks like it is going to work but them everything turns off except the clock and I can't get them to work at all. I know they have power and they are hooked right into the backbone but I can't figure out how to keep them on. Is it faulty wiring or is it a faulty unit? Can anyone help please? Thank you.

Here are pics of the gauges. I think the brand is Huhushop. I'm not sure I just got these from a friend.

that looks very much like a KOSO guage set.
    like this.

did you get any info with the guage.i.e. wiring diagrams? ,how to program the speed and tach.?
did you get any speed sensors with the set?
how did you wire them in ?

I did receive this wiring diagram with it and i Had attached all of the necessary things. For the rotate speed I attached the wire from the TCI Unit and for water temp I just didnt wire anything since my bike is air cooled. Should I have wired the resistor instead of the TCI? I did receive the speed sensors and have installed those correctly. I am not exactly sure how to program the speed or tach. It didnt come with those instructions, only with what you see below. Like i said earlier, the gauges turn on and the speedo does a count up and then all the number disappear and all thats left is the clock. I push all the buttons and none of it makes it work. I even tried starting the bike and it doesnt show anything.

Thank you so much for your help

For the black wire, I connected the oil pressure switch because someone recommended that. However, after reading around other people got a diagram that said it was spare power and not power lock switch. Do you suppose I run power to the red and the black and the green is ground?

black looks like +12v that comes on with the key (switched positive)
red is the + side of the battery
green is - side of the battery

"Should I have wired the resistor instead of the TCI?"..... explain that

I've found that stuff from overseas these days. Green is usually ground or green and yellow (uk).

looking at the diagram it doesn't seem there is any input for the speed sensor (m.p.h.) the only input I see is for "rotate speed" which would be r.p.m. you may have a "race" guage , which have no m.p.h. input.
these gauges need a sensor on the wheel to tell the guage how fast you're going, is that what you have?

Yeah it doesn't show in the diagram the the black connector in the picture connects to the speed sensor that I had to install in the front wheel.

it seems you've done everything right, but it looks like the black power lock wire needs to be connected to a switched positive "on with 12v +ve" with ignition as Pollock suggested.
you also need to find out how to program the wheel outside diameter, into the guage.
so you may need to contact koso, unless someone else has one, they may post up.
other than that, you may need to have a play with it, usually pressing and holding ,one or more buttons gets you into the programming menu

all the ones i've seen want you to measure the circumference of the tire in mm or cm, put that in the unit and it calculates mph or kph.
the tach needs to know the # of cylinders and if each cylinder fires by itself.
i just played with that, it's either right or very wrong.
i needed to put a resistor ( 1 meg ohm) in the wire to the coils to calm the rpm reading down, it would jump all over by itself...1000/6000.....2000/4000 without touching the throttle
