I was looking at some wheels on ebay and I was not sure so I figure I'll ask you guys. Can you take for example a 85 750 wheel and throw it on a 82 550?

nope. The only wheels that I have found that will do a direct swap are the five star ones from the seca. I was wondering about this as well as I have a 550 to. But with everything I have read and from what the guys at the local shops tell me that is about my only option for a direct swap. Anything else will require surgery on the rear end to make it work.
