They're a comfortable, all day cruiser. Few issues with them. Not all that big or heavy - lots of women ride them.

The biggest gripe with them is you have to remove the exhaust to get at the oil filter.

It won't get up and go or handle like an XJ. But it's a lot more comfortable for a long day in the saddle.

    I had a 2001 Silverado and my bro had a 2006 Classic
    Both 1100's. same bike.
    Here's the gripe -
Ride it at 70 MPH, you will feel an unusually large engine vibration in a certain speed-range. You will have to live with that, ride faster or slower.

The bikes worked perfectly and never broke, but my brother's would foul-up for letting it sit 3 months straight, then it needed to be ridden a few miles to clear the carbs. He also tried to do a burn-out and trashed his clutch - but that was HIS fault.

My battery went dead, so I had to push-start the bike, by myself on almost level ground. I had to run at 2nd gear speeds and jump on. My right foot grabbed the left saddle-bag lid, so now I'm running ONE LEGGED with my foot stuck in the left bag!!
I decided to push the bike 3 blocks to a hill. (didn't drop it)

My boss has one, he let me ride it around the parking lot at work. I'm not personally a fan, mostly because of the riding position. Feels too low and long compared to my xj. I'm also not really a fan floorboards or of how far forward the controls felt. But I think the things I don't like about it are kind of the point of it, so if that's your style than all the power to ya. It did seem like it would be comfy for long days in the saddle.

    That's no longer very big...

I test drove a Yamaha Stryker with a 1300cc engine... really powerfull but city driving sucked...had to drive in 2nd gear (50 -60Kmh) ... in 3rd it would sputter if you slowed down... idle is like 700 rpm....

And an even bigger bike i test drove was the Victory 8Ball and Cross country... 106 C.I. (+-1800CC) with 6 gears... That was fun.
Out of all the Yamaha's, Suzuki's, HD's and Victory's i have test driven... the 8 Ball is my favorite.

I have 3 of them. Love em. Mine are all lowered and customized.

But they are a different ride than my XJ.......

I'm finding my newly acquired Nomad very enjoyable to ride. It's a big, lumbering beast that's not going to win any races but is super comfortable. So what I'm saying is buy the Silverado, you'll like it. But keep the XJ, they're not making those anymore. :)

If you want a comfortable bike the 1100 is nice. It vibrates a bit around 70 mph and check the splines on the drive shaft and inside the rear hub. They tend to wear out if not maintained. The best thing to use on the splines is Honda 60 molly paste. If you don't, you WILL regret it.
There is a lot of aftermarket support for the 1100 VStar too.

PS. Dont sell your XJ. As nice as a cruiser is, you will miss your old bike.
