I don't know of any car tire that is only three inches wide.............and you'll never clear the swingarm, nor the shocks, nor the fender, etc.....with an average size car tire anyway.

It is a big discussion on the Intruder sites, and other BIG bikes. I'm still debating whether to try it on the LC or not----

I wouldn't even think about it for the xj's though..........

Coker tire probably has a car tire that would fit.

Chances are, its going to be of the sort that would fit some REALLY old vintage car, and will have a very low speed rating if any at all.

    Bad idea is bad.

Now, if you have some super custom build with a totally custom rear end I suppose its possible that your setup might accept some sort of car tire size. Even still, motorcycle tires are designed to be rounded so that you can lean the bike and ride on the edges of the tread face. Car tires are designed to sit flat on the road. There isnt much lean when turning a cage.

The "old" tire is also mixing bias and motorcycle radial, and it wouldn't handle right.

Anyone going "Dark-Side" should get the EXACT tire that others recommend. My V-Star 1100 had a 205-60 CT and it changed the handling to where you had to force it into every turn. The square profile made the bike want to just go straight, and the bike wanted to hunt-and-search while making a left thru a big intersection, changing directions at every bump.

I watched a video just this night that looked at the sidewall flex of a car tire that was mounted on a VStrom. Most of the time it was fine, but when leaned over much past 30º the sidewall looked like the tire was filled to 5 PSI and crawling over a rock.

Re: has anyone with a 82 Yamaha 650 maxim joined the darksid

Anyone know what size motorcycle tires would fit on my 95 F150?
P.S. It has an 'add-a-leaf' on the rear.

    :?

To me that just sounds silly.
Turn the scenario around and it still sounds silly.

You can get Dunlop D404's for well under $100 lots of places too. A much better tire for not a lot more money.

There is one (and only one) reasonable argument for using a car tire. Having three wheels on the ground; sidecar or trike.

There is also an argument borne from frustration. Truly large motorcycles (GL1600 and the like) are very hard on tires, and motorcycle tires for those bikes really don't perform as well as they should in terms of load capacity, or longevity. The better argument is pressuring manufcturers to make a better tire.
