I have a 81 xj650 Maxim. The forks were replaced. But the calipers were not.I have the original caliper, and it wont mount on these forks. And I cant find calipers that fit,or a set of original forks.Any Ideas on what I can do to get front brakes without dropping 300 for a front end?

Drop a post on the Wanted/For Sale column on this forum. Something like this "WTB 650 Maxim front caliper". Then just describe what you are looking for and elaborate on the details if you need to. I expect that your search will be short.

They look more like XS Forks.

    650 Special

They had that style of Fender Mount and Caliper Mounting arrangement on the 1982 650 Special with the Adjustable Preload End Cap and Dual Front Disc Brakes.

Look under the Rubber Cap at the top of the Fork Tube.
If there's a big "Screw Slot" with "More ~ Less" stamped there ... that's them!

Look for a model number on the inside of the lower fork just above where the front fender is attached.
