Not sure if it's Ricks birthday or not, but I noticed he's been on the site 12 months and a few days now. Over 2240 posts that's 186 a month or 3 a day!

I've read a lot of his work and begun to think of him as an XJ Yoda or possibly McGyver. Amazing wit and wisdom coupled with the ability to create amazing things with a pocketknife, a length of string, 2 buttons and a piece of wire!

    Happy xjbikes.com birthday Rick.

    Yea ... It's true.

    59 years old today.

Been working on motorcycles since 1964

    I've had a:

    Honda 50
    Honda 90
    Honda Super 90
    Yamaha 125
    Honda Dream 350
    Yamaha Twin Jet 100
    Kaw 400
    Lambretta 500
    Norton 650
    Kaw 650
    Triumph 750 Bonnie
AMF Harley Sportster (What a joke)
    Yamaha 650 Special
    Yamaha Virago 700 (Save Harley)
    Yamaha Seca 900
    Yamaha 750 Max

My brother's got the Bonnie and he giving it back to me!
His son's riding it ... and get this ... He's embarrassed because all his friends have high-tech rockets.

When I sold it to my brother ... I retarded the spark. It's gonna bark again, soon!

Thank you everyone for all the kind words for my contributions, here.
My goal is to get you running and try to save you big bucks.

Plus ... I'm really having loads of fun trying to write-it without being booring.

But, how many different ways are there to say:

"Check the Alternator Brushes" ... LOL

    Goodnight; Gracie!

I think as a nice birthday present and sign of respect for Rick's generous help to all members, all 1767 members should check their alternator brushes on the weekend followed by a full carb clean and balance.
Happy birthday from the (now very wet!!!) land down under.

    Happy Birthday, Rick!

Many thanks for your wisdom and wit, generously shared with us all.

You are truly gifted with both the wrench (clothesline?) and keyboard, and many of your posts deserve "classic" status.

Can't wait to hear about progress with the Bonnie!

    Blessings,
    Herb

    Thank a lot, everybody.

It's tough keeping-up with getting old. But, I'm still having a good time with my two XJ's and one's belonging to all the good folks on here.

I wish there was a Magic Wand to wave and get everybody's bike's fixed-up and running great.

The Magic is reading your Posts when you get pointed in the right direction and manage to to that yourselves. Plus, seeing what others have done to their rides to customize and personalize those bikes is just wonderful.

There's a wealth of talent and knowledge all checkin'-in, here, with great stories and photos. And, the combined effort everybodies been doing to help each other get going is beyond belief.

I'm sorry about the occasional departure of those who got a bike going and decided to get a different one for a change of pace or part with their possession for family reasons and such.

I hope is doesn't mean we won't be hearing from you every now and again.

OK ... let's get back to business and do what we do best, around here.
Get them old Yamaha's troubleshooted, fixed and on-the-street.

Your kind words and thanks are much appreciated.

Best wishes Rick on the birthday last week. Getting older is OK, just as long as you have things like bikes to keep you interested in life and a passion for something still flowing through the veins. Don't ever put a rocking chair on the porch because big dogs need to run.
