So after I got her stripped I got my grinder out and went after a few rust spots(just surface rust nothing rusted out) the blue paint is just to protect the bare metal until I get the fab work done

So here is what the frame looks like now with the seat are cut out.
I am using the brothers who are p2fabrication on this site build to get some ideas from on how to go about this. I figure whit what I have in the bike I'm not losing much if I screw up this early in the game

Alright so I got the bike mocked up how I think I want it to sit. I'm going Friday morning when I get off to get the tubing to start get the pieces tacked up before final weld. I will post pictures soon of the frame mocked up. I also started into the motor tear down. Number 1 rings are smoked!! But I'm going to need some help on doing at least a partial rebuild on this engine. Anyone out there know of any literature on the engine other than the repair manual or is that all I should need?? Oh and thank you guys for all yall advice and help

Not salt throwing but did you compression test the engine to determine its status (you said #1 rings are toast)? The manual(s) are a good source for info and are very necessary. Use that/them and ask questions here...you should be fine. I haven't split the case but I've rebuild the top end. My best advice...attention to detail. Triple check your work and make certain everything is going back together correctly and don't work beyond "too tired"...get sleep and look at it with fresh eyes. Remember...the only stupid question is the one not asked when the correct answer is here. Last thing you'll need is to button it up get ready to fire it then wonder if you missed anything. Good luck with the build.

Yes that was the first thing I checked. That's what lead me to a rebuild. Number One was only showing 75 psi of compression the others were over 100

So I know it's been awhile Since I posted an update but I have been pretty busy with work. I finally got time this weekend to work on the bike and we got one side finished and welded in. I'll post pictures.

I still have to do the other side. I have a pretty good idea on how to do it but any opinion would be greatly appreciated
