I tore my bike down and now I am second guessing myself on my re install of my ignition coils and wire locations. I know one coil has 1-4 wires and the other is 2-3. In diagrams they are shown 1,2,3,4 order.
Do the plug wires need to be on the matching cylinder? If so mine don't reach!! Or does the ignition coil on clutch side 1-4 (labled) plug wires go in that side and same on the throttle side??

Also .. my clutch side ignition coil doesn't fit on both mounting bolts...only one. When I got it it was only attached to one mounting bolt?? But I drove it 100 miles before tear down running perfect ignition coil 82 xj650.jpg ??

I don't want to mess this up ... you know!! Let me know your thoughts!

Correct, one coil does 2-3 & the other 1-4, you can switch 1 with 4 & 2 with 3 as the bike uses a wasted spark system.
The coil with the odd bolt holes is not OEM, but providing the readings are the same, should be OK, you could maybe make up a bracket for the other bolt.

Thank you!! I was thinking about making a little bracket as that seemed to me my only option besides getting a different coil.. but the numbers on the coils state it is for a 82 XJ650.
