Hi, all. I'm new around here. There's really a wealth of information on here! I've been using this forum's search engine all summer on my project bike (81 XJ550 Maxim). Cheers to you all for sharing your experience and insight!

    RECOMMENDED TORQUE:

Front axle nut: I can't seem to find anything definitive on this. I did see a couple forums where guys said 70, 75, and 77 ft lbs on the front axle nut. 1) which one is it? Or, 2) is anything in that range acceptable?

Rear axle nut the same? 70-77 ft lbs?

What about the spark plugs? I can't find anything on recommended torque for those.

    A little help?

    From the clymers manual

    '81 -83 xj550

    Rear axle 76 ft lb
Swing arm pivot shaft nut 65 ft lb

    Front axle 76 ft lb
Front axle pinch bolt 14.5 ft lb

    Spark plug 14.5 ft lb.

Get a manual if you haven't... I'm sure your gonna need it.
