I am at a wall here.. I have a 82 XJ650J. Trying to put new O-rings on the air valves (which I did) and new o-rings on the Cap bolt as I have a air leak. It says to remove Circ clip, but there isn't one? How do I remove the Cap bolt??? Here are some pix.

This top pix it doesn't leak, but the bottom one does all around the cap bolt!

Is the bolt at the tree loose? If it's tight it'll hold the cap in.

If the bolt is loose you can try tapping on the cap with a hammer and punch. You don't want to drive it in to where it sticks, but bounce it against the spring so it works loose. You could also thread a bolt into the hole for the Schrader valve and pull it out.

The big key here is to be GENTLE!!!
Try tapping the tops up and down some. Tap down with a hammer and a piece of wood. Be gentle!
Tap upward with a slide hammer in the threaded hole. Be gentleL
Put a heavy beach towel over the tops and bounce the front end, ie: get rolling slowly(no motor) and slam on the brakes.
The big key is to take your time! A little in a little out a little in a little more out don't get rough just be patient

A little kroil ( ok, maybe a lot) and a little heat too, but whatever the case, you CAN'T take them apart til you get that depressed far enough to get the circlip exposed. Just gotta keep at it -----
