so heres the problem, Ive had the bike sitting awhile for some work, I replaced the tank with a custom built one and did away with the air box and used some aftermarket air filters and now have straight pipes

I know ill need to do some major tuning later but this problem seems unrelated to the AF mixture right now

so I started the bike and the rpms just jump up to 5000, at first I thoght it was the throttle cable, so I disconnected that and I still have the problem

my next assumption is that either I have a leak around my new air filter setup, or with the new tank and new petcock im dumping in too much fuel?!?

there is also a vent line on the 2nd carb holder that I just pluged, and another vacume line coming from the case that I also tried plugging but that didnt solve the problem.

I tried messing with the idle screw (thats the knob in the center under the carb intakes right?)

Im still pretty new to this engine but ive been workign on bikes for awhile, if anyone can point me in the right direction id really appriciate it!

ok after doing a bit of reading im thinking my carbs might not be syncronized, I did have them off for cleaning but never touched any of the adjustments, just cleaned out the settling bowls and pulled off the tops to clean everything out, so Im not sure if they somehow got out of sync?

either way Ill take them off tommarow and try and fix it

The Number One reason is that the Throttle Cable Connection on the Linkages is "Flopped Down" ... under the Head and is being held open.

    5,000 revs is butterfly's open ... right???

Don't try prying it loose ... it will torque the linkage out-of-shape and complicate matters for you -- immeasurably.

Slide the rack back and fish it out.
