    Hey guys,

Long time no speak. Work had to stop for a while on the 550 Maxim, due to time & personal issue. However I'm back on it now. Frame is done, had to make some slight modifications to it due to excessive rust in area's, but it's been confirmed it's not been weakened at all.

Engine just needs painting & putting back together (with 2 new shims)

So onto the forks. Which have significant pitting in the travel area. I'm having trouble finding stanchions or replacement forks that haven't got pitting in the travel as well. So I'm wondering if there are any other forks I can use without to much modifications.

    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    Ian.

If you're an ebay user try German ebay (tick the European Union box on the left hand side), they have loads of XJ stuff on there, the shipping isn't too bad and all the parts I've ordered from Germany for any of my bikes have been decent quallity stuff
Sorry, don't know which (if any) other forks will fit straight on. Any non-XJ forks will make things complicated though, you'll be looking at replacing the wheel, disks, calipers etc

Thanks for the advice, I've found http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-XJ...pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2a46dacda7
Says that they might be bent, I've messaged the guy, he says that they look straight to him but when laid flat on a table he can see light shining under neath. But he said that could be as a result of a wonky table. He doesn't have anything to measure them exactly though. You guys reckon their worth a punt?
