I've owned the same 83 XJ750K Maxim for over 20 years. It has always been a bit sluggish at a cold start but runs like new after reaching normal operating temperature. Is this a characteristic of the model or am I the only one? I don't have any complaints, just wondering. Thanks.

it's a characteristic of every internal combustion engine that's ever been made

^ Exactly. Smooth and responsive running from cold can only be achieved with modern, computer-controlled fuel injection systems (and even then an engine runs better once it's up to operating temperature).

The reason I mentioned it is the sluggishness is more noticeable than the other bikes I've had. I'm a new member to this forum and am glad to know there are lots of the vintage XJ's still in service. Thanks for the reply.
