Anybody know what size the hold down bolt is for 1981 xj650 maxim ?
I moved about 5 years ago and the bike has been in storage since. The parts that were taken off I can't find now
I even lost my nickname and password for this place.
Bike is now in the garage and needs lots of work.

    Thank you. It should help.
I'm going to have to make the top plate and rubber insulator . Unless I find mine somewhere.

Mopower, I should have some of them around......no need to make one. Contact me.

I'm only a couple hours, or so, from you.....in June I will be hosting a Carb Clinic (near Utica). If interested, I'll get info to you as well.

    Thanks Dave.
I will write you tomorrow. Just got home from a 12 hr work day.
Not sure the bike will be ready by june. But we will see.
When I got the xj it had been left outside for who knows how long. I have started cleaning it up. Poor thing only has 6000 miles on it. Somewhere here on the forum are pictures of it. But I lost my old name and password.

After 7 years sitting it still starts right up and purrs. I even rode it for the first time. Down to the end of the driveway and back. Very easy with it.

Yup, got your message, send me your phone number and I'll call you in the morning--

Hey, what about doing the tank upgrade thing and putting a 750 maxim tank on? I believe I have one here, too--

I highly recommend putting a 750 Maxim tank on a 650 Maxim. I'm able to stretch a tank to 200+ miles.

8 mm 1.25 pitch is the bolt size. Not sure on length but I can measure it later.

I think I will worry about the tank after I get a bunch of the other stuff out of the way. Now I just need to come up with a repair manual

The FSM is hard to come by. They show up on e-bay every other while. You might be able to download a pdf file from a member (i don't have a pdf file). Chacal also sells manuals. I have the Haynes manual which are plentiful on e-bay and amazon.
