need site logo ideas

hrm - I'm game for some photoshop fun...

This of course means we need more source pictures Can we have a gallery drive?

I'm thinking of a profile shot of a maxim - thrown to two colour and cleaned up - with a smoother xjbikes.com font (keeping the same font style though I like the edges)

Do you have any idea what size you want the image? proportions?

I assume it is to fill the top left corner of the title bar.

 

I know that most of the riders are Maxim ones, but don't single out the Seca riders. I'm not so proficient in Photoshop, so I can't talk. Just a suggestion of having the logo be more global.

I think we can do it - facing each other would work...

which means we need two good quality images to work from - simular lighting would be a bonus... same angle - 90 degree to body. Bikes don't have to be clean as that can be fixed.

let me get some work done and I'll have a crack at it too.

Hmmm. I'm a big fan of simplicity in logos. How about taking the Seca and Maxim facing each other idea, but just use silhouettes?

 

I completely agree with having both bikes... it's just a matter of time to cut the next one out...

 

Well - I was thinking about it some more too...

I like the silohette - but make it much more of a background feature. The trouble is trying to get both bikes into the logo ( if we use one at all it seems we have to use both )

So - 'XJ bikes' in the foreground... something bike-ish in the background... I like the globe idea as it shows a bit of the international flavour we have.

I wonder if we can get an X in word art from the front tires of two bikes?

No claws, no chrome and no clean up - is this along the lines of what you were thinking? Still looking for good source 4-2-collector-2 pipes off of the bike from at profile angle.

I do like it - I'd like to get it fairly mono-chromatic as it is much easier to work with ( ie stencils, shirt transfers etc)... I suppose the final product could be in colour and the version for the footpads could be mono-chromatic...

I'll play with it some more - I'm thinking about trying to morph the bones into the pipe... I'm not sure I'm 100% set on the bones idea - it might make us look a bit harder than we are

I want some more logo makes posting their work... also - all the pics I'm producing are in my galleries...

I'm not understanding the use of a 4-to-1 pipe set. The stock XJ was 2-to-1 and looked a lot bulkier. Ah! I have answered my question. I'm done being stupid now! I'm not fond of any of the options presented but I do like the concept. I wish I could offer an entry but I'm creatively challenged (I can only paint by numbers here guys). Is this the end of the entries or will you keep the field open for a while Snow? I'd like to see more submissions.

 

4-1 was the picture I found - they're using the same source image... I'd like a 4-2 picture but haven't found anyhting

I'll work on it some at home this week, but what about something like Dean's, but instead of the blue or orange pattern, have a filtered photo of an XJ in action? The orange one already looks like a filtered sunset, maybe add a silhouette of someone riding a Maxim or Seca within the lettering.

thanks, they looked alot better in my head though. When I got it done on the screen it looked kind of plain but can't really figure out how to fix that. Oh well, thats my attempt.

Yeah, I like the first one from furyus. IMO, I think it's best to keep it somewhat simple in case you'd like to make shirts, decals, etc. later. On a shirt, you could always put a picture of the bike on the back, but you need a nice simple logo for the front. Good job furyus!

BTW, I really like the second one too with the cutaway shot of the motor, being that I'm an engine man anyway. Just thinking in terms of simplicity... :wink:
