I have an 83 Midnight Maxim 750 current gas cap isn't sealing properly. Any ideas on where to find an aftermarket one? I know i can get an original one but I'm in the mood to splurge (lol) and find a cool custom one. any ideas I have seen some nice ones on here just not sure about the mechanics involved when replacing the stock. (if it needs to be vented, if a universal screw on one will suffice etc) thanks in advance.

my aftermarket cap won't seal and I'm annoyed with trying to get one that works. Found the factory one on ebay for 20 that's the route I'm going

You can. It will need to be disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and fitted with a new gasket. Be careful to not lose the small spring and check ball that lives inside the vent.

BTW, we do have the original style gold-plated gas caps available for the Midnight bikes.

P.S. the $20 caps on eBay are not "originals", and you will encounter the same problems (among others) that Josh Phillips has........

Going custom has its merits; however staying stock will give you less headaches.

I strongly recommend that you acquire parts from XJ4Ever (Chacal) who posted just above yours.

His reputation here is solid!
