Love it. I plan to use mine on my bike as well. Haven't decided if saddlebag style storage or electrical box

    Nice!
Care to share details on mounting system?
    Quick removal or permanent?
Did you have to relocate the rear turn signals?

I will try to get some more pics of the details. But I can say that I only used existing mounting points so that I can remove them and the bike can remain stock. I removed the passenger pegs since I do not carry passengers. I used that mount point and a steel shelf bracket for the bottom hard point to prevent bouncing . The front bolt required no modification. For the rear mount, I removed the signal mounts and installed 6" x 3/8 threaded. Then I used a 1 x 3 steel bracket to extend the signal mounts to just behind the boxes. I secured the box and made it secure with dome bolts through one side and an I bolt in front for a padlock. I still need to use an angle grinder to cut off the access threaded from the inside rear bolt. Painted it up. Whole thing cost me about 30 bucks inc. the boxes. I plan on tightening the look of it more as time goes on. Painting the hardware and stuff.

    Body colored very nice,

Ammo cans make great hard cases, water tight (if you mount w/a little silicone around the bolt holes.

    Thanks man,
Just don't look at her to closely you will see her age lines.
I yearn for a garage to be able to tear it down to the frame. I am limited to what I can do in my carport.

stuff I would like to do soon though.

valve adjustment, new gasket (it leaks a little on the left side front)
fork seal replacement. (Shop work---Not comfortable doing this one myself. in my carport)
right side throttle light switch starter button replacement/refurbish (have to sometimes wiggle the starter switch for the headlight to come on after starting)
    New master MC. (cosmetic reasons)
steel break lines (don't have the cash for it right now)
ATARI disassemble, refurbish (Lens is a bit fogged on the inside.
acquire front logo for under lights

It's a good looking machine, all things take time..

i've been working on mine for 6 years now while riding, every year it gets a little better.
(in a mad max sort of way...)

The S.S. lines are well worth the money and will improve your stopping power, i highly recomend them!
the ATARI dissasemble can be tricky, the glass is held into the face plate by glued/melted plastic retainer plate, just be very carfull
if your removing that, if you try "prying" in there it will break the glass.

but the gauge face cover can be removed and the glass can be wiped/cleaned well from the inside and it helps,
if you'd like to keep it simple.

    happy wrenching!

The steel brake line. I understand its imporance. I see the "kits" which can come in colors. (Considering red. My bikes future accent color lol) i see the same thing over and over from 55-155. Is there something special with the 150 price bracket? Even the 55 dollar one offers a "lifetime warranty".

i really don't know why there is such a price difference.
I buy all my S.S lines through coastguard1975 on ebay, but chalcal also has them i believe.

the only thing i now about the ones through coastguard1975 is that the double banjo bolts are not very long.
i prefer to make my own double banjo bolts (stainless steel). that way i know there are enough threads to hold.

    i hope this helps.

that guy is a douche! very poor business man. the lines he sells are not a direct fit to our xj bikes. I bought brake lines from him before I found len (one of the worst ebay experiences I have ever had). get your lines from len, you will be much happier in the long run.

I made an in-lay for the top of the boxes since I didn't remove the stacking tabs from the boxes.

coastguard1975 on ebay. he sells brake lines under the apex brand for motorcycles. the ones he claims fit our xj's don't really. the banjo fittings are thicker and require additional parts that are hard to find and the angles on the ends aren't right either. you are better off going with len (chacal) here on the forum. his customer service is par excellence. speaking of, the guy on ebay has really poor customer service too.

Probably on the left side for a better firing arc.
