new clutch

    '82 Maxim, 650

    Tore down the clutch and the clutch springs seemed really easy to remove, is that normal? How tight do they need to be?
    I replaced the clutch plates and the springs, the pressure plates were good, they still have the dimples on them. EBC parts.

    Anyway, I must've put it together wrong because I can't pull the clutch lever.

    I got it, I guess the internals weren't lined up right.

    when you get that straightened out, the bolts aren't very tight, 5 or 7 ft/lbs without looking it up. this is a real good place for loc-tite

    Yep, that's what I did. Loctite. Just torqued them down with a 1/4" drive ratchet. Was concerned about just RTV sealant, so I bought this gasket material. About as thick as cereal box but way more dense and rubbery.
