    Hi everyone.
Does anyone know of a larger diameter brake disk (288 mm) that will fit the front wheel of my '84 XJ750?

    Cheers,
    Shaynus

Oops, typo. Should be 298mm diameter.
Trying to match up my original front wheel with a set of blue spot calipers on FZR600 (YZF600? I forget!)

What bike? Because if it's one with the italic wheels then the YZF600 (Euro spec Thundercat) disc bolts right in, as does the earlier FZR600 and Euro spec FZR600R (same as '95 and '96 US spec YZF600). You may need spacers though. I tried this with my '82 XJ650 Maxim and the calipers fouled the wheel big time, but I was using calipers and forks from a Euro spec FZR600R, not sure if the bluespots are smaller.

I put the YZF forks on mine with blue spot calipers, Pro Lite rotors and a master cylinder from the Kaw 636.
    One word........ AWESOME! Big-brakes.jpg sat.jpg

What model bike is that Thrasher?
What rear wheel are you using?
I'm planning to use my original front wheel to keep the bike visually balanced as the more modern front wheel is larger than my original rear. Are there any straight forward swaps to put a larger wheel / tyre on the rear of a '84 XJ750 (factory 'special' that is a 900 frame with a 750 engine?

    It is/was a 1981 Seca XJ550 RH. The rear wheel is from a Suzuki 600 Katana. sat3.jpg

That's cheating - you have a chain drive!
    ;-)
Looks like you have a great bike there.

The swinger is from a 1988 FZ600. I welded the shock mounts to do away with the mono shock.
FZ600 motor and a old school Yosh with comp baffle.

    He's not cheating........the 550's only came as a chain-drive bike.

Not really. You will need to put some thin washers as shims under the bearing cup to take up what little slack there will be.
The tough will be to fabricate and weld the shock mount brackets on.

The forks are 41mm and are from the FZR600 or the YZF600. You will want to use the whole front end and may need to shorten the pivot shaft from the bottom.

As I posted previously to the question 'why?':

"I'm planning to use my original front wheel to keep the bike visually balanced as the more modern front wheel is larger than my original rear. Are there any straight forward swaps to put a larger wheel / tyre on the rear of a '84 XJ750 (factory 'special' that is a 900 frame with a 750 engine?"

I would prefer the rear wheel to be 'meatier' than the front.
One of the original forks was slightly bent from the previous owner sliding it down the road and I got the FZR600 front end cheap.
    Bolted straight up...

    Result!
FJR1300 front discs bolt straight up and have the desired 298mm diameter.
Now onto wheel bearings / axle...

    It's not really a " factory 'special' ". It's a factory production model that was called the 1984 XJ750RL.
