    Hi,

I'm in Melbourne, Australia and just joined the forum today.

    I've owned a 1980 XJ650 (Australian delivered, 4K1- chassis #) for a couple of months.

It's in pretty good condition and I've been commuting on it daily. It needs a bit of work, and I want to give it a bit of a cosmetic overhaul.

    Bob's your Uncle!
This sight can guide you through almost anything.
Ask questions when needed and chances are really good someone here has wrestled with the same issue.

    Cheers!

Gday Mark, I have now cut the sub frame back and welded a new loop, made a new seat pan and seat from leather, new megaton mufflers, bullet indicators, stop light, powder coated rims with new Avon Roadriders, low rise drag bars and bar end mirrors and basically stripped lots of bits off. The next mission will be to rip out the air box and battery, install some pod filters and maybe a lithium battery. Check out the attached picture of where Im at.

That is looking really great. I'm yet to do any major work on mine. Just sourcing bits and pieces still.

I'd love to see what you do with the battery and airbox. I really want to relocate mine at some point.

Where did you order that tank badge from, eBay? Actually, any advice for sourcing parts in Melbourne would be great. I'd like to re-do the stickers on the tank after I clean it up and paint it.
