Tripometer knob removal

    Replacing the speedometer in my 82 xj750 maxim, I have the atari apart and the old speedometer out. The old one was always missing the reset knob since I've owned the bike so it's come out no problem but to get the new one in I need to pull the knob off and put it back on once the gauge is seated. I can't for the life of me figure out how to pull it off and don't want to damage the new unit.

    I've seen the write up on taking the gauge apart to clean it but it doesn't seem to cover getting the unit out of the dash :/

    Small screw down deep inside the end of the knob

    The Fiddles nails it again..............

    Speedometer Trip Meter Rewind Knob:

    The knurled knobs allow you to rewind the trip odometer back to the zero position. On most models, these knobs are removed by GENTLY rotating them in the opposite direction from their normal function. On the 1982 XJ750 Maxim models, there is a tiny screw that retains the knob to its internal stem.
