will this diagram work on the xj? If not, why? Is there anyway I could make it work?

I was told by a fellow builder that this will work just fine. But I can't put my own experience behind it yet

I feel you on that. I'm a newbie and really want to make my own simplified harness because I like things to be straight to the point

I really hope it works. I'm gonna try it. It's my first build and I HATE wiring

I'm certainly no expert but I would be using relays in the headlight circuit.
(And possibly the starter solenoid circuit too, depending on current draw?)

That schematic is virtually useless. You have a different type of ignition and a different type of alternator than pictured. Half of the wiring you need is not shown.

Also, I consider it poor for what it is. At a glance I see that the brake light won't work if the headlight isn't on. The fuse on the lighting system should be up stream of the switch, not downstream as designed.

Do you have one I could use? What wiring isn't shown?

No I don't. There really isn't anything extra in the stock wiring. If you've got a problem with the harness it's probably best to just repair it.
