Worked on the bike that i got a couple months ago. Finally got spark and the bike starts with starting fluid. The carbs where off tried to install them but think i got the lines all missed up. The only way the bike turns on if i blow in at least one of the vacuums on the top of the crabs but stays like at 6000 rpm unless i stop blowing then it turns off. Also dont know if have the main line installed correct. Did search there was one topic of these carbs being rare or something. I got one line on top of each carb on the top not hooked up to anything(blow in one of these). Then there is one line in the middle of all carbs which dont have hooked up to nothing(had main fuel line to this then saw a pic on google then changed). And in between carb one and two and carb three and four there is a line in each. Have a t hooked up to those lines to my main fuel line. Can please try to help me also downloaded the manual cant find anything. The bike is a 1985 yamaha maxim 700. any links would be helpful too.

The ports on the top of the carbs should be plugged off.

The ports on the t-fittings that join carbs 1/2 and carbs 3/4 should have a 1-foot (or so) length of fuel line attached to each one, and they remain open to atmosphere (their other end attaches to "nothing").

Yes, that seems odd, but it is what it is.

The fuel line from the petcock attaches to the swiveling brass fuel inlet that is located between carbs 2 and 3.

Don't trust images you find on google (for a variety of reasons).......

Fixed all the mentioned above. The bike turns on with the choke on stays at 3000rpm but after let go of the choke the bike turns off. Does not stay on any more advice. The gas comes out of the carbs. Does not have filter at this point working on the carbs. So think its getting to much gas or something.

A bowl float valve(s) is stuck open. Read in the DIY forum and take the carbs to "Church of Clean" then move on to the next scheduled maintenance item.

And you're running on the enrichment circuit, due to other clogged jets.

Time for a thorough cleaning and rebuild

Do the 'church of clean' and 'the whole 9 yards'. Also do your throttle shaft seals while you are at it.

Just a thought but if you have run it for any length of time and it floods out bad, keep an eye on the oil as it can become contaminated with gas and thin it out.
