Stock bars are bent and I don't care for the looks of them. I would like to put Euro style bars on, has anyone done this swap? Wanted to see if there were tank clearance issues, wiring length, etc. I have to order new brake lines so that shouldn't be an issue. Will measure after the swap. Looking at something like the BikeMaster 15395.

    • Width = 30"
    • Rise = 2.4"
    • Pullback = 4.8"
    • Center = 4.8"

I put a similar bar on mine, but with a lower 1.5" rise. They didn't touch the tank, but I did need shorter cables and a shorter brake hose. I think I ended up using a 750 Seca Clutch cable (not in the picture) and just re-routed the stock Maxim choke and throttle cables. The brake hose was a left over from another bike I broke for spares (a Kawasaki GPZ 750 that had steel braided lines fitted). I don't recall wiring being a problem, I think I just looped it or stuffed it in the headlight bowl.

It was a bit messy, but it worked.

I did the same swap on my Maxim 750. At least I "think" they are those same bars, certainly similar dimensions. I did not replace any cables or brake lines. I did eliminate my "choke" cable and I re-routed everything else to use up a little of the extra length. I also lowered my headlight and gauges by 1 inch. All in all, the re-routing was a little fussy, but it was no problem and I am happy with the position, comfort and look. Before and after pix: IMG_7273.JPG IMG_7596.JPG .

Thanks gentlemen. Yup, big bucket of elbow grease and a LOT of winter evenings drinking beer in the basement.

Jayrodoh, I should have also mentioned that I replaced my front brake lever/master with one appropriate to the flatter bars.

Was wondering about that too, figured I'd get the bars and then determine if that needs to be changed. Mines due for a rebuild so a replacement is not out of the question. What did you use?

I was in the same situation. Long past time for a rebuild anyway, plus it looked really rough, so it was easy to justify getting a whole new unit. The bars really pretty much require it and I never mind springing for brakes and rubber. I got this one from MikesXS: https://www.mikesxs.net/product/08-0265.html But that's a 16mm piston for the dual disc. They have one just like it for the single disc (13mm). It is a very good match for the existing clutch lever.

That extra drop on the headlight looks mean. I need to get back in the garage!
