image.jpg I'm re-doing a set of carbs for a forum member, but thought you might like to see a bit of how they're gonna turn out---- two bodies cleaned, two to go:

Here's a good example of the dreaded Green Disease. Fortunately it can be cured.

I'll post a pic when these are cleaned up--- THEN you'll see what "good" looked like!

Y'all are still lookin' at the carb bodies --- those are for another fella, not me. I have a set of midnight maxim carbs I'm gonna do for ME, but those are farther down the "to do" list.

The next pic will be the "after" pic if the jets. THAT's the "good" that I was talking about. :)

Edit: oops, just noticed the first paragraph never got posted this morning!! Oh, well--- better late than never. Now I understand why your comments weren't making sense to me! Ha

I gotta work some overtime so i can get Hogfiddles to work on my carbs. Just so they can be nice and purdy. My midnight maxim carbs are more like a drab gray at the moment

As I said under the first pic at the top (carb bodies), this rack is being rebuilt for a list member.....that's why I'm not changing the color--they're not mine. I decided to post some pics here so he can see them (along with a bunch more pics that I've sent only to him so he can document his bike's build), and also so others here can see what goes into a total teardown.

Looking good hogs, although the one on the lower right looks a little dirty still :)

I still have a ways to go before the bike is ready for these, too dang cold to do much right now. It's stripped to the frame and ready for some cleanup and paint. I did bring the gauges and handlebar controls inside to work on at night but the rest will have to wait until it warms up. This will get ridden so trying to find a good balance between garage queen and DD.

NOPE, not dirty. Just a bit of tarnish color. These are PERFECTLY clean. Cleaner, brushes, and 100psi of air--no dirt there at all.

The drain screws had to be drilled and "easy-out"-ed, the enricher well jets took some time, but cleared out nicely.

Sweet man, too bad the bike is far from ready for them. Too cold to do any paint/cleanup work. Here's the current state.

Just a couple of detail notes for people---all the parts are from Len, but I want to point out a couple things :
1: notice the nice new throttle shaft washers... Nice, clean, and white.
2: notice the two new chrome diaphragm covers on #1 and #4. Len has those available in chrome, goldtone for midnight models ( I'm gonna put them on a midnight rack I'm restoring), as well as the plain zinc ones. Check with him for details and pricing

I told you, just a couple different carb cleaners, a few tools, and elbow grease. Well, an eye for detail, too....

That would look nice but this was supposed to be a "quick fixer" for a DD. Now it's torn almost to the frame for paint and I'm starting to consider powdercoat. The bikes looks have grown on me, was in pretty good shape, and was complete with powerlock, tools, etc. so seemed a shame to just run it. I may toss them in the next order of the zillion things I need to complete.
