Three years ago my wife came home from work and, knowing my desires and ambitions of working on bikes, etc., told me that someone had a bike that they needed to sell. I already had a daily rider, so I figured I'd check it out. It turned out to be a 1981 XJ650. It was pretty funky. He wanted $300 for it. Told my wife I'd offer $150 or $200 and she said, "You will NOT! Give him the money, he needs it!" Which was true, so I dragged it home. Three years later and I've just finally registered the bike. It's not yet inspected, I killed the battery jumping it with my car (trying to tune the carbs, kept running the battery down, got impatient). I have them close now, but it needs quite a few odds and ends.

    Almost done:

I really like where it's going. The paint looks good in the pics and that's a nice brakelight. Where did you get it?

Hey Willie, I was born in Sayre and graduated from Waverly High School. I'll bet that you live close to my home town.

That's a very nice bike. So far, job well done.

I kinda like the brake light too. I dunno if it would look okay on the Seca with what I'm doing but looks very nice on yours.

I would wrap those headers in black. The wrapping gives it a very, very cool look. Keep us updated!
